BLAST FURNACE 3, SSAB, LULEÅ (2000)

Together with Uddcomb Engineering from Karlskrona we have had the contract to dismantle the existing Blast Furnace 2, and on the same place, to build the new Blast Furnace 3. The work was carried out in 73 day´s. Some preparing works could start in dec 1999. The BF2 was stoped on the 9th of June 2000. The BF3 was taken in operation on the 23rd of Aug 2000.

Our part of the project consisted of: dismantling of the existing BF2, manufacture of a new lower tower structure (700 ton), new platforms (350 ton), new Hot Blast Main (60 ton), bricking of the BF and Hot Blast Main (2300 ton). bricking of the downtakes (65 ton), erection of a new Bell-Less-Top (300 ton).

We had around 130 people working during the most intensive part of the project.
